A Day in the Life of Michaël Bartelemy - Engineering Manager

Written by Urszula Bismark-Pettit | Jan 23, 2025

For the first quarter of 2025 of the “A Day in the Life of” campaign, we had the pleasure of interviewing Michaël Batrelemy, Engineering Manager for the Asteelflash plant at the EST in France.

Michaël Bartelemy is a 53-year-old married professional with two children aged eight and four.

He has been recently promoted to Engineering Manager at the EST site in France.

Michaël started his professional journey at Asteelflash in 2004, which was his first EMS industry.

His career began at Asteelflash as a Test Technician. In 2012, he transitioned to the role of Lean Coordinator, and two years later, he became an Industrial Project Manager. By 2022, he had advanced to Cross-Functional Project Manager, and in November 2024, he took on the position of Engineering Manager.

Michaël coordinates the NPI process with his team and other departments to deliver projects to customers efficiently and cost-effectively. As a member of the on-site Pilotage Committee (Copil), he contributes to site management and strategy, overseeing the engineering team across various scopes, including projects, industrialization processes, and testing.

A typical day at Asteelflash for Michaël starts with checking his emails and touching base with the team. He then attends the Plant Top Meeting and communicates any necessary information or actions. Following this, he holds one-on-one meetings with group members to ensure progress. This approach keeps the engineering department responsive and focused on continuous improvement.

Michaël's daily motivation comes from listening to his collaborators and addressing engineering-related issues. He enjoys learning both from others and through self-study.

He prefers to encourage his team members to develop their skills; the biggest challenge is inspiring the collaborators to work as a team.

The unusual story that marked Michaël career at Asteelflash was meeting his wife almost 10 years ago.
