For the first quarter “A Day in the Life of” campaign, we had the pleasure to interview Patryk Rusek, Strategic Sourcer for the Asteelflash Procurement Team at USI´s Biskupice Podgórne site in Poland.

After finishing his Bachelor´s degree in Logistics, Patryk first started his career by gaining five years of experience in the Logistic area.

From first working as a storekeeper to gaining the role of Logistics Specialist to then being promoted to buyer, Patryk quickly climbed the corporate ladder.

His previous duties, although not directly connected to EMS, were a great preparation for his current role, since the processes in Purchasing and Procurement are very similar.

All these experiences prepared him well to work for USI and Asteelflash. Patryk has been working for USI for almost two and a half years now. Currently he takes care of USI Poland and Asteelflash´s German and Czech sites.

Starting out as a Buyer for USI, he was responsible for buying semiconductors for all projects in Poland. After that, he quickly joined the procurement team. Now he has the role of Strategic Sourcer, which consists of finding a source of material with the best possible condition, meaning price, lead time and term of payment.

A typical work day for Patryk starts with dealing with cost-ups that the company gets from suppliers, since he has to make sure, the company gets the best possible price for each component. This part of the job is the key factor that makes it possible for USI and Asteelflash to be very competitive on the EMS market. Next on his schedule are escalation calls with the management of suppliers, to make sure that production covered and possible delays avoided. A great part of his job is helping buyers with cancelling or pushing out orders to focus on reducing stock.

In his free time Patryk likes to play the drums and enjoys music.

    About his motivation he says:

“My motivation is quite simple. I’m doing a job which I like to do. Every day I see that USI/Asteelflash is growing. When I came here first, our office was almost empty and now we can see a lot of new people with a very good attitude towards work. A big motivation is that USI/Asteelflash is giving you huge possibility to develop your skills which is very important for me. I can feel that every month I’m much stronger and much more professional in EMS industry. In Poland we have a saying – “If you do what you love, you will never work a day” and from my opinion this sentence is absolutely correct.“

We could not agree more with Patryk and thank him for his dedication to the company.
